Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders are locks to be drafted in the first round later this month.
Will Jaxson Dart join them? The betting markets believe so, as the Ole Miss quarterback has heavy -1000 odds to go in the first round, according to Bet Rivers.
BetOnline is even more specific, giving Dart an over/under draft position projection of 24.5.
Jaxson Dart Draft Position
- Over 24.5: +125
- Under 24.5: -165
Dart has been seen as a borderline first-round pick for much of the process, but as happens every year, quarterbacks tend to shoot up the boards as the draft gets closer.
There are two interesting landing spots within the range of this projection.
The Pittsburgh Steelers have the No. 21 overall selection and have a big need for a potential franchise quarterback, even if Aaron Rodgers comes aboard for 2025.
While local insiders have downplayed the idea of Pittsburgh drafting Dart, it’s smokescreen season and hard to know a team’s true intentions.
The Los Angeles Rams have the No. 26 overall pick in the first round and also have a need for a young quarterback as Matthew Stafford’s career winds down.
If they want Dart badly enough, a small trade up would not be out of the question, which is another reason why under 24.5 is the favored position.
The four teams in between the Steelers and Rams — the Chargers, Packers, Vikings and Texans — all have stable quarterback situations.
Draft odds can shift on a dime, but as it stands, the oddsmakers expect Dart to go in the first round, right in the range of the Steelers and Rams.
